FREE SPEECH BILL OF RIGHTS

To the Parliament of Australia

We, the undersigned Australians, call on the Commonwealth Government to introduce and pass a Free Speech Bill of Rights to protect the fundamental freedom of expression in Australia.

For too long, Australians have faced censorship, de-platforming, and government overreach for holding lawful views that challenge the political or cultural mainstream.

We reject any system where freedom is conditional on conformity, or where expression is regulated by the sensibilities of those in power.

We call for laws that
In a democracy, silence must never be enforced. We urge every MP and Senator to act now — before freedom of speech becomes freedom in name only.
Protect liberty. Defend democracy. Pass the Free Speech Bill of Rights.

A FREE SOCIETY CANNOT EXIST WITHOUT FREE SPEECH

When governments decide which opinions are allowed, they’re not defending democracy… they’re dismantling it.

Our proposal will

WHY DO WE NEED FREEDOM OF SPEECH?

Without it, truth can be silenced and power can go unchallenged. Australia currently has no explicit constitutional protection for freedom of speech, leaving lawful opinions vulnerable to censorship. This Bill would provide clear, enforceable protections.

Only partially. The “implied freedom of political communication” applies narrowly to certain political matters. It does not prevent governments, institutions, or platforms from restricting lawful speech simply because they disagree with it.

No. It is about protecting fairness and accountability. Free speech is not needed to applaud popular ideas; it is essential to challenge flawed ones.

Every Australian. The right to speak freely should never depend on who holds political power or on prevailing public opinion.
